Title: The Summer She Disappeared

Storyline: Mira and her best friends Ezra, Shaun and Elena are finally enjoying their well-earned summer break after a long term at university. But things take a dark turn when Mira begins to change, becoming distant, withdrawn and unlike her former vibrant self.

While Shaun and Elena believe she simply needs space, Ezra suspects something deeper. Mira is being haunted by something that takes her form, a darker, distorted version of herself, a manifestation of her depression and inner torment.

This supernatural drama explores mental health, friendship and the terrifying reality of battling your own mind. Through emotional tension and heartfelt connection, the story captures how love, empathy and courage can confront even the darkest inner demons.

Why apply: a gripping graduate short film offering an emotionally rich role, strong character work and collaboration with emerging filmmakers at SAE University College in Melbourne
