Title: The Cat
Storyline: 'The Cat' is a short psychological horror film about loneliness, dependency, and the blurred line between comfort and control.
A troubled orphan named Bagel encounters a reclusive man who could offer the family connection he desperately needs. However, his growing obsession with a toy cat named Dumas soon unravels into something far darker.
Bagel’s fragile mind and isolation feed into his dependency on Dumas, an eerie voice that guides, manipulates, and entraps him. The cat’s parasitic presence may be supernatural, or simply a projection of Bagel’s fractured psyche.
As reality and delusion intertwine, Bagel’s sense of self deteriorates, and the line between caretaker and captor fades into madness.
This project is an excellent opportunity for actors interested in complex psychological storytelling and atmospheric horror.
It’s a powerful short for those seeking to expand their showreel and work with advanced Griffith Film School Masters students and rising industry professionals.
Payment details: Student project; opportunity includes showreel footage and networking with professional filmmakers.
