Storyline: In this colourful and character driven 10-minute short film, a creative and extravagant young man named Marcellus changes himself in an effort to win the love of a girl and gain the approval of his traditional parents.
But when he accidentally breaks his artist grandmother’s heart, Marcellus realises he’s losing sight of who he truly is. Determined to reclaim his identity, he leaves behind expectations, romance, and family pressures to rediscover his self-worth and make amends.
Told with warmth, humour, and a visually rich style, Funky Guy explores the themes of self-expression, family expectations, and the courage it takes to be unapologetically yourself.

Dad. Businessman with traditional views, stubborn, wants Marcellus to succeed and ‘be the man of the family’. On a deeper level he just wants Marcellus to succeed, but thinks the traditional way (studying business, law or commerce) is the only way one can build a stable career. There is a lot he gets to learn subtly from Marcellus

Mum. Traditional mum, caring but deferential, soft-natured. Supports Dad in his decisions. Wants Marcellus and Dad to be happy. More of a minor acting role, only a few lines, more told through gentle expressions
