Title: Tangents
Storyline: Set over the course of a single day in Cork, 'Tangents' is a naturalistic short film following the parallel stories of three young adults whose lives briefly intersect.
Each character is seeking something, connection, clarity, validation, but the film makes a poignant argument: even when timing, emotion, and physical proximity align, the modern world still resists connection.
With themes rooted in social isolation, miscommunication, and emotional stagnation, the film embraces slice-of-life realism, ambient visuals, and long silences. Inspired by hyperlink cinema and Marxist film theory, Tangents explores how structure and society work against human intimacy.
The film will shoot in natural settings across Cork, using wide shots, minimal dialogue, and authentic performances to reflect inner lives.
