Title: Tangents
Storyline: 'Tangents' is a ten minute hyperlink style student short film made as part of a master’s thesis at UCC.
The film follows three intersecting characters across a single day, exploring how their parallel lives brush against one another without ever truly connecting.
The thesis and film argue that in the modern capitalist world, connection is not easily achieved, even when proximity, timing, and emotional need align.
Inspired by films like Slacker, Nowhere, Go, and Magnolia, Tangents emphasises naturalism, slice-of-life realism, and quiet observation.
The atmosphere will focus on muted cityscapes — greys and greens of Cork — with wide shots, silences, and a minimalist style.
This is a reflective and grounded project that offers actors the chance to embody flawed, deeply human characters in a thoughtful narrative
